Escaped Wolf

Once during my childhood a wolf escaped from somewhere, possibly London Zoo, and was known to be in the area. Instead of being able to play in the street as before, I was only allowed to run to a friend's house a few doors away, with my Mum watching from our gate and her Mum watching from theirs.

I now wonder what on earth they would have done if a wolf had appeared and grabbed me!

After a few days of freedom the wolf was found living in Oxshott Woods and was captured without incident
