Margaret Vine has written about her memories of growing up around the Gosbury Hill area in the 1950s
My friends and I felt very lucky, as children having Gosbury Hill as our playground (known locally as the Bull Whips). Views from the crown of the hill were spectacular with Epsom Grandstand a notable feature.
Several mature trees enhanced the area, one a beautiful beech tree at the top of our garden was hollow and had a resident owl, sadly this came down in a gale.
There were ancient pear trees indicating where orchards maight have been.
A large brick seat and a flight of steps fired our imaginations as did a flat area with the remains of a wall. I could visualise this as a terrace, perhaps with stone urns at the corners.
The highlight was if it snowed and we could toboggan down the hill on a tin tray

The houses on Sangar Avenue were built at the top of the hill, changing the view
