Postcards
I made a scrapbook of cards I was sent in 1965 during a 6 week stay in Epsom hospital - this includes a view of North Parade/Bridge Road and one from the sister on the Ward when she went on a visit home to Ireland.
The children' s ward at Epsom Hospital is now named Casey Ward after this Sister Casey, who I remember as being exceptionally kind to me at a time when my family were only allowed to visit on Wednesday afternoons and at weekends.
I have a photo taken on the balcony at the hospital which shows the ornate caps the nurses wore at that time.
The local vicar was allowed to visit at any time so I was always very pleased to see a familiar face. As my Mum went to St Mary's Church and I went to Chessington Methodist I was visited by the vicar and the Methodist Minister which doubled the amount of weekdays visits I had.

I recently bought this old postcard of a
Chessington Zoo Bears' Tea Party at an antique fair
- the spectator in the hat is my late grandfather, Victor Dorling

This postcard of Bridge Road + North Parade was sent to me in 1965 - Copyright Frith's
